Do you enjoy cross-cultural ministry and seeing others equipped for successful cross-cultural ministry? Do you prefer to serve directly with the national community? Located on a low mountaintop overlooking Madang town and the Pacific Ocean, we have a training centre to orientate new workers coming into the region. The tropical climate may be delightful for the staff and participants, but it produces ongoing maintenance needs for the buildings, vehicles and grounds. Local workmen are available for most tasks, but a supervisor/manager is needed to oversee the whole operation. Centre Manager

Main Responsibilities

• Consults with leaders to discuss and plan such matters as housing, office and other building maintenance priorities.

• Gives input into maintenance budget and projected budget needs.

• Supervises or performs a wide range of tasks, including purchasing of materials and supplies, maintaining vehicles and equipment.

• Involvement in construction projects and maintenance of our dirt road.

• Supervises national maintenance workers, as well as providing ongoing mentoring and training in the various job skills.

• Identifies gifted workers and provides for additional opportunities to grow in their skill areas.

• Works comfortably in a cross-cultural situation, encouraging interaction between staff and the local community.

• Other tasks as needed in support of the whole orientation program.

What you’ll need

• Personal relationship with Jesus Christ

• A church that stands behind you

• Team-mindset, resilience and ability to work without close supervision

• Good management and interpersonal skills

• Comfortable as a mentor/trainer as well as a manager, willing to equip others rather than having to do the task yourself

• Experience in construction, plumbing or electrical work. Field experience preferred. Management training and experience preferred.

• (Desirable) Desire to work in an inter-cultural context

Minimum age: 18

Duration: 1 year or more
