Indien Entdecken (Investigating India PRF 8677) Bei Interesse PRF Nr. angeben

Contribution to Strategy: India has an ancient history and amazingly diverse present that beckons life-long learners to dive deep into the world of language and culture. Indians value their heritage and as we learn and showing respect for what they value, they begin to open up their world and families to us, presenting the opportunity to share the Gospel. No ministry opportunity in India can be fully seized without language (Hindi/Urdu) ability and an understanding of the culture of the person with whom you’re speaking. That’s why SIM India places a high value on the role of learner, explorer, and investigator for people new to this incredible country. Each word learned, every cultural cue observed, is another stone added to a strong ministry foundation.

Ministry: CP- Church Planting

Responsibilities: You will learn the most language and culture through relationships, so the primary responsibility of this position is to build relationships. You will use these relationships, at first, primarily as a means to learn Hindi or Urdu, to explore what it means to “be Indian” and to experience Indian life. As these friendships develop and go deep, you’ll see opportunities to share your faith with friends and their families. You’ll be responsible to complete at least 30 hours of language study each week (either through university classes or the LAMP method) and work through SIM India’s orientation and mentorship program. You’ll explore various cultural heritage sites and travel to places – urban and rural – where SIM India is involved in ministry partnerships.

Other Ministry Possibilities: Throughout this program, your focus will primarily be on learning and not necessarily structured ministry. Primary ministry possibilities will arise through the contacts and friendships that you build. Through those relationships, you may have the opportunity for Bible teaching, partnership building, participation in a local church or with children and youth. In your second year, SIM India may require that you be available to allocate up to 20% of your ministry time to assist with SIM India field needs (to be negotiated with the Personnel Coordinator).

Future Plans: Completing the “Investigate India” program is an essential first step for those planning long-term service within India. It is our hope that those who complete this program will transition smoothly into ministries beyond the initial two-year commitment.
