Contribution to Strategy:

A key area of emphasis for SIM in Malawi is developing the church through leadership training of pastors and other church workers.

Responsibilities: Come invest in the lives of the future pastors and church leaders of Malawi. Bible teachers are needed for the Evangelical Bible College of Malawi. The teacher should be able to teach a variety of disciplines. EBCoM would like to move to a degree program in the years to come. The teacher would be expected to participate in curricular and co-curricular activities and make constructive contributions actively and willingly to the life of the college both for operation and for development. The teacher would be expected to be available to the students as a counselor and mentor.

Other Ministry Possibilities: Local church ministry with the Africa Evangelical Church.

Future Plans: The college teaching staff is a mixture of foreigners from Western countries and other African countries, as well as Malawians. Although we desire to see more Malawian educators, we also acknowledge the enrichment a diverse staff brings to the education of the college.

First degree required.

Advanced degree required.

Required training: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in area of Biblical Studies or Education. Masters qualification in a relevant discipline to the training at the institution such as: OT/NT Theology, Systematic Theology, Missiology, Pastoral Theology, M Div, etc., would be helpful.

Recommended Experience: Two-year minimum relevant ministry experience required.

Personality Issues/ Cultural Considerations:: A person with divorce in his/her personal history would not be able to work in this ministry. In view of the high incidence of HIV/AIDS in Malawi, every ministry of SIM is impacted by this serious situation. Whatever assignment SIM personnel fulfill, the challenge of HIV/AIDS must always be remembered.
