Member Care Personnel PRF Nr. 9231 please mention if interested

, Contribution to Strategy: SIM Niger’s missionaries serve in a wide variety of ministries in several locations across the country. The purpose of SIM Niger is to make disciples where Christ is least known. Making disciples in a country that is 99% Muslim, extremely hot, one of the poorest in the world, and which is sometimes politically tense, means stress is something we constantly deal with. In addition to that, we work on cross-cultural teams with people we don't always understand. Having a good member care team is essential to having a thriving group of missionaries in Niger, so that the work of crossing barriers to take the good news to those who are living and dying with out Jesus can be done effectively.

Ministry: PP- Member Care

Responsibilities: We are looking for a team that would consist of a Member Care Coordinator working with two or three counselors. We would like to have at least one man and one woman on the team. The Member Care Coordinator would: 1. Coordinate training as part of the orientation program for missionaries to understand the particular stressors of living in Niger and help provide them with tools to handle that stress. 2. Organize and provide the tools for assessing the mental health of each ministry during the missionary's term and as they end their term. 3. Work with the Member Care team to monitor and assess missionaries' stresses, thereby catching stress early and better supporting missionaries to deal effectively with sources of stress. 4. Work with the personnel office team to provide good information to missionaries while in the pre-term process. 5. Work with RD's to refine organisational and team processes to help missionaries to utilise team resources to identify and address stress at early stage. 6. Together with the Member Care Team counselors, plan seminars, retreats, and other activities that would contribute to good mental health on the field. This may include facilitating SYIS workshops. 7. Provide counseling to missionaries as needed. 8. Provide advice to SIM leadership regarding member care issues. 9. Assist with mediation of interpersonal conflicts when needed. The Counselors would: 1. Work as a team to equip new missionaries to handle the stresses on the field. 2. Meet with missionaries to assess their mental health and level of stress and give them tools to help them handle the stress. 3. Be part of a team that provides accountability to missionaries. 4.
