Chief Executive Officer

Position: African Enterprise Europe Director

Job Objective

 

The primary objective of the CEO is to nurture and grow a loyal support base for the work of African Enterprise, of individuals, churches and Christian organisations in Europe, that are actively engaged in financially supporting and praying for the mission. This is achieved through active engagement with church leaders, church attendees, Christian schools, theological institutions and other fund holding institutions. The CEO would also promote prayer and financial support for African Enterprise and lead short term mission trips to Africa.

 

To lead the European team and to purposefully contribute to the clarity, cohesion and commitment of the African Enterprise International partnership and their unified pursuit of the African Enterprise Mission.

 

Key Tasks

 

-Develop and execute the AE Europe strategic plan and annual budget

-Provide directional leadership to the European staff and volunteers

-Growth and renewal of supporter base to deliver revenue growth

-Create a technology strategy to provide deeper reach into the Christian ‘marketplace’

-Drive fundraising strategies and supporter communication

-Present and promote AE and its mission, programs, partners, and members in a consistently positive manner

-Ensure high visibility of AE to prospective donors, and build interest among philanthropic organisations

-Manage all aspects of the organisation’s marketing and public relations

-Visiting churches to share the mission of African Enterprise (which is to evangelise the cities of Africa in word and deed in partnership with the church)

-Inviting AE speakers to Europe to preach and share the mission of African Enterprise in churches, theological institutions, Christian schools and NGO/non-profit organisations

-Occasional participation in evangelistic missions in Africa and lead teams from Europe on short term mission in Africa

-Distribute biblical and prayerful content for supporters

-Grow the AE profile within the Evangelical Christian community

-Partner with AE International to support the overall missional planning

 

Essential Selection Criteria

 

-Evangelical Christian faith demonstrated through active membership in a church community and ability to affirm Statement of Faith (Lausanne Covenant)

-Bachelor’s or post graduate qualification in business, management and/or International Development or similar

-Senior leadership experience – especially in a Christian or not-for-profit (NFP) environment

-Ability to present God’s word to, or speak at church and supporter forums

-Track record in developing and delivering strategic plans

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills

-Financial management and legislative compliance of an organisation from a leadership position

-Demonstrated fundraising skills

-Fluent in English (other European languages are desirable)

 

Desirable Selection Criteria

 

-Experience working with and reporting to a Board

-Experience in the NFP sector or in a Christian organisation

-Exposure to international Christian activities especially those with an African focus

 

About You

 

You will be able to demonstrate your Evangelical Christian faith through active participation in your local church. Your faith inspires your zeal to see the spiritual and physical needs of Africa addressed.

 

Your business acumen, especially within an NFP organisation, supported by strong written and verbal skills has seen achievement of KPIs and expansion of the supporter base in a competitive market. Building relationships with supporters and donors is one of your passions. Your ability to think creatively has seen initiatives implemented that embraced technical advances and delivered business growth.

 

You will be conversant with the governance, financial and reporting requirements needed to lead an organisation and ensure compliance with applicable legislative and ethical requirements.
