Contribution to Strategy: SIM Bolivia is committed to strengthening its compassionate ministries to the poor in rural and peri-urban areas through missionary teams committed to selected needy communities for holistic development. Depending on location, the SIM development teams will have a social worker, water engineer, agricultural specialist, veterinarian, community health professional, and church leadership developer. Only a small percentage of peri-urban and rural town inhabitants are evangelicals, making them a primary ministry focus in Bolivia. A nurse can gain easy entry into gospel resistant communities through crop development and extension training work. Then he/she is really able to empower existing believers to reach out effectively to their own people.

Ministry: HH- Public Health

Responsibilities: You will be part of an SIM team working in communities targeted by you and the SIM team. You may choose to create your own skills development project team, or instead, work with Christian churches and agencies. Many are very eager to have a nurse partner who will work beside them in the these communities. Many small missions, churches, and indigenous organizations make excellent partners for an SIM missionary willing to train and work beside them.

Ministry 2: HZ- Medical and Nursing Electives

Other Ministry Possibilities: The nurse and his/her family will enjoy working with churches and youth as part of his/her ministry. Rural town churches are especially eager to have help in youth ministry, women's ministries, and sports ministries. Club ministries are a wonderful way to meet needs. Clubs such as computer, cooking, sewing, sports, mechanics, art, etc. are very well received by local communities and are also well attended by non-Christians in the community.

Future Plans: Qualified nurses are desperately needed who to help needy people with their health situation while also helping them with key spiritual issues. You will be work alongside Bolivian Christians who have the potential of taking over the majority of the ministry within four years. Much of the training of Bolivian personnel or staff is by one-on-one on-the-job training and personal discipleship.
