Contribution to Strategy: SIM Bolivia: Thriving missionaries advancing strategic ministries in partnerships. The Bolivian church is well established. SIM Bolivia seeks to identify and minister in unrecognized or weak but strategic areas. Theological Education in Bolivia lags behind almost all other Latin American countries. SIM Bolivia believes that theological education is strategic for strengthening the church in Bolivia, and the door is wide open for ministry partnership with the Seminario Biblico.

Ministry: TE- Extension Programs

Responsibilities: The Seminario Biblico is operated and administered by a national church (the Union Cristiana Evangelica). The majority of the professors are Bolivian; however, both the seminary and SIM Bolivia believe that missionary teachers can bring an international perspective and a challenge to raise the academic level at the seminary. In addition, SIM Bolivia is assisting the Seminario Biblico in offering a Masters Program by extension and international post graduate scholarships to prepare better qualified Bolivian professors for the Seminario Biblico.

Other Ministry Possibilities: Personal one-to-one discipleship with seminary students.

Advanced degree required.

Required training: Minimum M.A. or M.Div. in theology, Bible, ministry or Christian education.

Recommended Experience: One year of formal teaching experience is recommended but not required.

Personality Issues/ Cultural Considerations:: Although all seminary students have a high school degree, their learning style is semi-oral. Professors need to adapt their teaching method accordingly and not rely as heavily on reading the text as is done in most Western seminaries.
