Information Systems Administrator, Galmi PRF 7450

Qualifications

First degree required.

Required training: A working knowledge of Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista Server 2008, 100 Base-T networking, internet, Microsoft Office Applications versions 2000 and up. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) would be nice, but not necessary.

Recommended Experience: One to two years' working as a systems administrator, especially in a small business setting.

Personality Issues/ Cultural Considerations: Generally, sensitivity to cultural differences, ability to adjust expectations and be flexible, "teachability" and willingness to learn from others. Specifically, ability to lead and work as a member of a diverse team and willingness to work in a simple work environment.

 

Position Information

Contribution to Strategy: SIM Niger’s 100+ missionaries serve in a wide variety of ministries in 12 locations across the country. The purpose of SIM Niger is to glorify God by planting, strengthening, and partnering with the church in Niger. Galmi Hospital is one of the few places in this M*m country where people have the chance to hear the Gospel and receive adequate medical care. Thus, the ministry of Galmi Hospital provides an open door to demonstrate the love of Christ in both word and deed. This role is vital to the smooth running of the hospital.

Ministry: SM- Management/Supervision

Responsibilities: The Information Systems Administrator would: 1. Maintain the functionality of the hospital computer and other information systems. 2. Advise the hospital director on computer-related issues and make necessary changes to the computer systems. 3. Ensure regular maintenance of, as well as protection of, the hospital computer and other information systems. 4. Make sure data is backed up and secure the network against loss of data. 5. Maintain email systems. 6. Ensure the optimal utilization of the available information technology resources. 7. Assist the hospital administration in any other way necessary. 8. Train a Nigerien to handle day-to-day computer problems.

Ministry 2: SP- Computer Technician

Other Ministry Possibilities: Friendship evangelism, literacy, discipleship, Bible teaching, all under-girded by the development of personal relationships. The two evangelical churches in Galmi town and others in nearby villages have Sunday worship services and weekly prayer meetings, youth activities , and women's fellowship groups. Evangelistic outings are also organized by local Christians to nearby villages.

Future Plans: Part of the computer systems administrator's job is to train or to continue to broaden the training of a Nigerien to handle day-to-day computer problems.
