Qualifications

Post secondary diploma.

Professional License: Accountancy, Bookkeeping

First degree required.

Recommended Experience: Several years of business administration experience.

Personality Issues/ Cultural Considerations: Generally, sensitivity to cultural differences, ability to adjust expectations and be flexible, "teachability" and willingness to learn from others. Specifically, ability to lead and work as a member of a diverse team and willingness to work in a simple work environment.

 

 

Position Information

Contribution to Strategy: SIM Niger’s 100+ missionaries serve in a wide variety of ministries in 12 locations across the country. The purpose of SIM Niger is to glorify God by planting, strengthening, and partnering with the Church in Niger. Sahel Academy contributes to this strategy by enabling many missionary families to continue their work in Niger and beyond! Sahel Academy's 120+ students are children of international missionaries. Beyond missionary families, Sahel Academy opens 30% of its enrollment to English speaking students from families interested in securing a Christian education for their children. The business manager would be directly involved in the smooth running of the school.

Ministry: AM- Management/Supervisory

Responsibilities: The Business Manager would: 1. Oversee the areas of finances and general services, purchasing, hiring workers for all major maintenance projects, and the payment of all school bills. 2. Pay employee salaries. 3. Do bookkeeping if no bookkeeper is available. 4. Prepare an annual budget for both the school and the dorm. 5. Prepare a schedule of school fees and send out fee charges. 6. Supervise national workers. 7. Monitor and report on all current or projected building construction and land development. 8. Work with the bookkeeper on purchasing school supplies both locally and internationally.

Ministry 2: AS- Business Services

Other Ministry Possibilities: Opportunities abound on campus, such as helping with the student youth group, discipling students, and friendship evangelism with national staff. Sahel Academy has an exciting outreach program providing weekly ministry opportunities for students and staff in the local community, as well as periodic weekend ministry trips to support missionary work in a town or village outside of the city of Niamey. Other opportunities include involvement in local churches.
