Labortechniker (Laboratory Technician and Assistant PRf 6559)
Responsibilities:
You will be part of a team of eight lab technicians in the routine day-to-day functions of a rural hospital. You will take part in a rotating schedule covering nights and weekends. The laboratory covers hematology, immunology, bacteriology, test CD4, etc. Daily BK tests are done on sputum, and there are many blood transfusions to prepare because of the high incidence of malaria. Because of this, outings are organised to find blood donors in schools, etc. There were over 69,900 exams in 2009. You may also participate in teaching students or new staff.
