Ethno Arts/Media Specialist

 

Main Responsibilities

 

• Identifying, documenting, and analyzing indigenous arts in a local community, according to their formal characteristics and meanings.

• Work alongside local singers, actors, dancers, storytellers, and artisans, researching a community's performing and visual arts and then sparking artistic creation to reach mutual spiritual and social goals.

• Draw on the results of this research to develop and implement strategies with local communities.

• Facilitating creation and evaluation of indigenous Christian songs, dances, drama, stories and other performed and visual arts, in response to community goals and needs.

• Share what has been learned with academic and other communities.

• Integration of the arts into language development programs.

What you’ll need

 

• Personal relationship with Jesus Christ

• A church that stands behind you

• Team-mindset, resilience and ability to work without close supervision

• University level degree or equivalent competency. A Master’s degree may be needed in some contexts.

• Knowledge of socio-linguistics and language related work needs (organisation-internal training offered)

• Ability to investigate a wide range of artistic domains (music, dance, drama, visual arts and unique local expressions) with special competence in at least one

• (Desirable) Experience working in an inter-cultural context

 

Minimum age: 18

Duration: 1 year or more
