Trauma Counselor, Nigeria (PRF Nr. 9032, please mention if interested)

Contribution to Strategy: This opportunity is in line with SIM Nigeria's vision of equipping the church to reach and disciple the lost. Persecuted believers will find healing through one-on-one counseling and workshops. The most unreached people in Nigeria are in the "core north." This is also the area where the church suffers persecution and has become the main target of terrorism. Trauma counseling will strengthen the believers in the core north to forgive and reach out to their persecutors.

Ministry: PC- Counseling (Trained Counselors)

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include: * One-on-one pastoral counseling with traumatized believers, usually not longer than a week or two. You will be working on a team with others, including Nigerians. * After receiving training, trauma healing workshops will be facilitated and workshops to train additional facilitators. * Opportunities will be available to debrief expatriate missionaries and Nigerians after traumatic events. Again, training could be provided.

Other Ministry Possibilities: There will also be opportunities to encourage and train burned out pastors and leaders who have not necessarily been traumatized.
